Street Lights came by its name purely because of the image that it evoked at the time of production. The bright red lights could almost be seen as traffic lights. However with this image the power remains firmly with the viewer, who can determine exactly what the piece reminds them of. Smooth in texture this is a photograph of oil bubbles on water that have been surrounded by some colourful lights.
Printed on Fotospeed gloss 270 gsm paper. A bright and ultra glossy paper with a white point, enabling striking colour, detail and density, created specifically for giclee printing.
The Oil and Water Collection.
Street Lights is part a collection inspired by the observation that while some things may appear to repel or oppose each other, there are times when their meeting can be a thing of great beauty. Occasionally and with the right conditions and amount of light, there can be something inherently beautiful about the refusal of the elements to mix.
Large or tiny bubbles are created depending upon how quickly or slowly the oil is introduced. Normally when oil is placed in water in daylight or under normal household bulbs the images created look quite bland. With meticulous lighting and backgrounds an almost ethereal image can be created.
Technically difficult to produce, the perfect balance between lights, colours, water and oil creates results that are truly mesmerising.
Each individual piece has been carefully crafted and specifically lit in such a way as to reveal the complete beauty of oil and water. There are only a limited number of each print and because every image is individually hand crafted to perfection, you can be assured of a stunning timeless piece of art that can be enjoyed for its unique and timeless elegance.
